Kimbolton

28/8/2012

Picture
It was a 5.30 am start but I finally got the light right to get the panoramic views of Kimbolton I've been after. Trouble is, having seen this perspective I feel obliged to try and get the evening shots from the other side of the valley!

I also took a few planning snapshots of St Andrews Church on the way back when I noticed something extraordinary half way up the steeple.... divine!

Hinchingbrooke House

I was rudely awoken at 5 am this morning to deal with the terrible things people do to each other. Afterwards, I noticed that the sunlight was fabulous so I set off on a little exploration to feed my coffee addiction and see what I could photograph. The light seemed perfect on Hinchingbrooke House, former home of the Earls of Sandwich and the Cromwell family,  and now part of Hinchingbrooke School. The nice groundsman kindly let me in.  Perfect antidote.

Thanks to Ian, Ann and the many helpers for an excellent 'Know your camera' day with Cambridge Cameral Club. I left with my head spinning (again) but then calmed myself by taking photographs in Cambridge after an enormous thunderstorm. I wonder how you photograph lightning...

Uh oh... more windmills. This is the beautiful Over windmill set against magnificent East Anglian skys late one afternoon last week.

You can read about it here.

Windmills

Most pictures of the Burnham Overy Staithe Windmill in North West Norfolk have the bright yellow flowers of the Oil Seed Rape crop.... Not on this day!

Having discovered the Madingley Windmill, I've realised that I have quite a few already.... I feel a new gallery coming on.

Madingley

Just spent a few days teaching at Madingley Hall near Cambridge. What an amazing little village - complete with Stately Home with beautiful gardens, church and windmill. Not to mention the nearby American Military Cemetery. I didn't see any frogs though...
